The 2021 Fiat 500e may not be the most performance-focused EV on the market but it’s always interesting to see how cars perform on the moose test.
During the first try and without any knowledge of how the car would perform, KM77’s driver managed to complete the moose test at 74 km/h (46 mph) and while it did hit one cone, that was because of driver error and not the fault of the car itself. The reviewer adds that in this first test, the car handled smoothly and progressively and provided the driver with a good feeling of control.

The highest speed achieved through the moose test was 75 km/h (47 mph), with the publication adding that the suspension setup and the ESC system worked together well to keep the car under control. When tested at 76 km/h (47 mph), the 500e pushed into understeer which km77 says is because of the Bridgestone EcoContact 6 tires. So, while it failed to complete the test at the mandated 77 km/h (48 mph) speed, it outgunned models like the VW Golf Mk8 (69 km/h / 43 mph), BMW M235i Gran Coupe (68 km/h / 42 mph) and Mercedes-Benz CLA (66 km/h / 41 mph), to name but a few.
Powering the standard Fiat 500e is a 24 kWh battery pack that drives an electric motor with 93 hp. This model can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 9.5 seconds and has a top speed of 84 mph (135 km/h). It can also travel for 115 miles (185 km) on a single charge on the WLTP cycle.
Those after more performance can purchase the 500e with a larger 42 kWh battery that’s coupled to a 118 hp electric motor that sends it to 62 mph in 9.0 seconds and onto 93 mph (150 km/h) top speed. More importantly, the range of this version has been boosted to 186-199 miles (299-320 km).
