Honda Reveals N7X Multipurpose Crossover Concept In Indonesia

The N7X previews a production crossover that's perfect for families and will replace the Asia-Pacific market's BR-V

Like many other manufacturers these days, Honda has released its own big vehicle that blurs the line between a crossover and a minivan (or MPV), the N7X.

Designed for the Asia-Pacific market, the 7-seater concept was unveiled at an event in Jakarta, Indonesia, this week. Much like Honda did with the Civic Sedan in the US, the N7X is a near-production concept that previews a new production vehicle that will be fully unveiled in August, per AutonetMagz.

It will be the successor to the BR-V and Honda says it combines the best of an MPV and an SUV.

“Offering Honda’s signature fun to drive performance, the N7X offers the premium comfort and spaciousness of an MPV with the versatility and style of an SUV,” the company writes.

That means a strong, upright grille, pronounced body lines, dark plastic wheel arch protectors, and a vertical hatch. Inside, meanwhile, the production car will offer premium quality and materials, Honda promises.

“N7X is a concept of how 7-seater car should be, not only offering great drivability but also providing peace of mind with premium comfort for all passengers,” said Takehiro Watanabe, president of PT Honda Prospect Motor. “We are very proud to have the world premiere of N7X concept in Indonesia, as a concept that will redefine the category and driving excitement.”

Powertrains have not been revealed, but the BR-V was offered with a gas or diesel 1.5-liter inline-four making 118 hp and 99 hp, respectively. A choice of six-speed manual or CVT were offered.

The N7X, meanwhile, be on display at the Dream Cafe by Honda, in the Senayan Park Mall in Jakarta until June 6.
