A number of companies are working on electric delivery vehicles, but few are as small and cute as Citroen’s new My Ami Cargo.
Based on the Ami, the My Ami Cargo is a purpose-built delivery vehicle that is designed to deliver small packages over short distances in urban areas.
While the model looks like your typical Ami on the outside, the interior has been revised for cargo hauling duties. In particular, the passenger seat has been removed and replaced by a modular cargo box that provides 9.2 cubic feet (260 liters) of storage space and can hold up to 309 lbs (140 kg) of weight.

The storage box helps to secure cargo and is topped by a modular shelf which supports 88 lbs (40 kg) of weight and can be used as a workspace. The shelf is removable and features an A4-style cut-out that can be used to hold papers, brochures or even a tablet.
Elsewhere, the My Ami Cargo has a rear storage box and an adjustable load floor that allows users to transport items that are up to 3.9 feet (1.2 meters) long. Thanks to these changes, the vehicle has a total storage capacity of more than 14.1 cubic feet (400 liters).
Since the vehicle was designed for businesses, Citroen will offer a host of exterior customizations. In particular, fleet customers who order more than ten vehicles will be able to have their My Ami Cargos painted specific colors and equipped with company logos before delivery. The automaker will also offer logo services for smaller fleets.
On the performance front, the My Ami Cargo has a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers an 8 hp (6 kW / 8 PS) electric motor. Needless to say, that’s not a thrilling combination as the model tops out at 28 mph (45 km/h) and has a range of up to 47 miles (75 km).
While its performance isn’t impressive, Citroen noted the My Ami Cargo offers greater crash protection than two- or three-wheel delivery vehicles. The company also said the model should appeal to a variety of businesses including those that offer food delivery and e-commerce services.
The My Ami Cargo will go on sale in France this June and pricing will start at €6,490 ($7,787). Customers will also have the option of leasing the vehicle for as little as €24.18 ($29.01) per month with a €2,508.43 ($3,009.87) deposit.
