The new generation Land Rover Defender will not rust, as its body is made of aluminum, but if for some reason someone wants to go for a rusty look, they should give Niels van Roij Design a call.
The Belgian coachbuilder, which has signed some cool projects over the years such as the Rolls-Royce Wraith and Tesla Model S shooting brake models and the Breadvan Hommage, will add corroded metal side vents and hood diamond plates to the British brand’s SUV.

Complementing the new 22-inch Black Crow forged alloy wheels, the components, which are also available for the classic Defender, can be had in different finishes. The company says they can apply a thin layer of aluminum, titanium, brass, bronze, zinc or gold to all types of metal, inside and out, which will then hold its qualities for 20 years.
“These parts were oxidized through an accelerated process, after the metal was painted on. Customers can also choose to, for instance, brush or polish the metal. It can be protected against rust, alternatively we let the natural course of corrosion start. We can then halt corrosion at any desired moment: sealing the metal will stop the wear”, said car designer and co-founder Niels van Roij.
The rusty exterior items aren’t the only mods here, as this Defender, which is part of the coachbuilder’s Valiance series (Vintage for the classic Defender) features a custom interior too. The seats, parts of the dashboard, center console, armrest, door cards and steering wheel were reupholstered in brown leather and are joined by carbon fiber inlays.
