While the current BMW M2 is shipped to North America and other global markets from the Leipzig plant in Germany, U.S. customers will supposedly get the new one from the San Luis Potosi facility in Mexico.
Nothing is official at this point, as this rumor comes from BMWBlog, who also claims that the 2023 M2 will launch with two transmission options, a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic.

That is the same recipe used in the latest M3 and M4 models, which also feature an optional M-tuned xDrive all-wheel-drive system for the first time. And if we were to give credit to previous reports, then the new M2 might also get this option, thus aiding traction in bad weather conditions and helping put down the alleged 450 PS (444 HP / 391 kW) produced by the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine, as this is understood to be the M Division’s last model to skip electrification.
Customers will get to spend more money on the premium subcompact sports coupe, which will launch with BMW Individual paint finishes in a premiere, the quoted website claims. And speaking of options, the carbon fiber roof will help shed some weight, lower the center of gravity and improve handling. A variety of 19- and 20-inch wheels will apparently be available for the new M2, alongside the head-up display and perhaps the infotainment system from the i4, according to the latest report. And you can rest assured because the grille won’t be as big as the one in the M3 and M4, spy photos have revealed.
