Nissan Titan sales dropped to a dismal 26,441 units last year, but one dealership in Springfield, Virginia has found an interesting way to boost sales.
According to Car & Driver, Hart Nissan is giving Titan buyers a Leaf for practically nothing.
The publication says anyone who purchases a 2020 or 2021 Titan can get a two-year, 10,000 mile (16,093 km) lease on a Leaf for just 99 cents. That isn’t a monthly payment either as the magazine says there are “no other fees” involved in the deal.
If that wasn’t tempting enough, the Leaf is eligible for a $7,500 EV tax credit so customers could effectively get ‘paid’ $7,499.01 to take the vehicle.

Furthermore, customers can select any Leaf they want and all five models in stock are Plus variants. They feature an upgraded 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) electric motor and a larger 62 kWh battery pack, which enables them to travel up to 226 miles (364 km) on a single charge. The Nissan Leaf Plus starts at $38,270 so getting a two-year lease for 99 cents is a heck of a deal.
Of course, customers need to buy a Titan or Titan XD and the cheapest truck on the lot is a 2021 Titan SD with an MRSP of $49,400. However, the dealership’s price is $42,242 and the tax credit on the Leaf means you could potentially get two new vehicles for $34,742.99. That being said, the Leaf deal could potentially invalidate some of the savings on the truck.
The offer is curiously absent from the dealership’s website and Facebook page, but it was first noticed by Design News’ Dan Carney who described it as an “unexpectedly desperate-sounding radio ad.”
While Titan sales have been falling for years, the pickup easily outsells the Leaf. 9,559 units were sold in the United States last year and, even before the pandemic, sales registered just 12,365 units in 2019.
