We’re continuing our coverage of the Toyota media event at its North American headquarters in Texas bringing you live images of the limited run 2022 GR Supra A91-CF that’s all about the exposed carbon fiber and bespoke 19-inch wheels. [Updated]
Last year’s big Supra news was heavily focused on mechanical updates. The original 335 hp 3.0-liter six was upgraded to the 382 hp version previously reserved for the Supra’s BMW Z4 M40i cousin, and was joined for the first time by the 2.0-litre turbo four fitted to lesser Z4s.
This year, it’s all about the trim; specifically, the carbon fiber trim on the new A91-CF edition. Exclusive to North America and limited to 600 units, the CF doesn’t get any mechanical upgrades, but it might just look cool enough to make you think twice about waiting for Nissan’s upcoming Z instead.
The highlights include a new splitter, side rocker panels, side and rear canards, and a duckbill rear spoiler, all made from carbon fiber. And that’s visible carbon fiber, not the spoilsport kind hidden by layers of body-color paint.
Speaking of body colors, you can order your CF in Absolute Zero white, Nitro Yellow or Phantom Matte Grey, but whichever finish you choose, it’ll be paired with a unique set of matte-black 19-inch wheels and red and black interior featuring a mix of leather and Alcantara trim.

The CF package isn’t available with the 2.0-liter motor, so the mechanical hardware consists of a 382 hp straight-six and mandatory eight-speed ZF automatic transmission that work together to hurl you from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds.
Toyota’s Adaptive Variable Sport (AVS) suspension and the active rear differential introduced on 2021 cars are carried over along with a Brembo brake kit, but Toyota claims the carbon aero add-ons actually improve downforce. Maybe they do, but we’d stake money on the only time you notice them in street driving being when you hear a sickening crunch as you park too close to the curb.
Free driver training package for all 2022 Supras
The free driving training package offered to all Supra buyers for 2022 probably can’t help you with that, but it might make you a safer driver on track. Owners get one year’s complimentary membership to NASA (no, not that one, the National Auto Sport Association), which includes a full-day’s instruction comprising of classroom-based, and on-track, tuition.
Other Supra changes for 2022 include a red interior option for the 3.0 Premium, standard heated seats for the base 3.0-liter car, and Apple CarPlay compatibility for models with the Premium Audio Package. The 2022 cars, including the A91-CF Edition, go on sale this fall, with prices to be confirmed.
