For many years, the Porsche 911 was known for its iconic silhouette and air-cooled flat-six engine. However, with the 996 generation, the car switched to water cooling, leaving many purists unhappy. The final generation before this switch was the 993, and now a pristine example is up for sale.
The 1996 911 Carrera 4S is listed for sale on Elferspot with 146,500 km (91,030 miles) on the odometer. However, you’d never know that by looking at it, as this car spent part of its life in the care of Porsche’s Zuffenhausen Center and was extremely well maintained by its only owner after that. It comes with full documentation, and includes the original service booklet, keys, and code cards.

The exterior is finished in sought-after Arena Red, which is offset nicely by the bright silver Turbo Twist wheels framing red brake calipers. Other notable exterior features include an aftermarket front spoiler from a Carrera RS and a supposedly rare lack of sunroof.
The interior is upholstered in a relatively basic grey leather, but it is remarkably well maintained given its age and mileage. It includes power adjustable seats, air conditioning, and an anti-theft system along with a Becker radio and a Nokia sound system.
Power is supplied by a 3.6-liter air-cooled flat-six making 282 hp (286 PS / 210 kW) and 250 lb-ft (339 Nm) of torque, which is sent to all four wheels by way of a six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. Some upgrades include a factory lowering and an aftermarket front spoiler from a Carrera RS.
