McLaren wasn’t able to sell as many examples of the Elva as it wanted but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a special car. When configured just right, it is equal parts supercar and art piece.
The Elva featured in this video only recently left the McLaren factory and was actually taken to the Topaz detailing facility before the owner took delivery.
The process starts off with brake and wheel cleaner being applied before a brush is used to clean away any containments. Topaz then uses a series of small brushes to clean intricate details such as the car’s badges, before pressure washing the entire Elva and using a lamb’s wool mitt to wash it by hand. Once that is done, a clay bar is used to pull any containment from the clear coat.

It is then time to begin the detailing process to ensure the hypercar is free of any swirls, scratches, or orange peel. Topaz’s team then meticulously applies a paint protection film across the entirety of the car to protect the paintwork and ensure it remains in pristine condition for years to come.
This particular McLaren Elva is especially eye-catching as it is clad in a gorgeous shade of dark green that has been contrasted with white accents and various pieces of gold trim, including pinstripes and the wheels themselves.
Towards the end of the video, Topaz had the opportunity to chat with a member of the McLaren design team, learning about some of the car’s lesser-known details.
