In an attempt to gain traction with customers on new platforms, Volkswagen is partnering with image sharing and social media service Pinterest.

Together, the brands will create a virtual test drive experience for the ID.4 electric crossover. The experience will allow users of the Pinterest App to take a 360-degree look at the EV.

“This virtual 360 experience we’ve created with Pinterest allows us to educate potential customers how functional, fun, and within reach our new EV is,” says Kimberley Gardiner, senior vice president, Volkswagen Brand Marketing. “A platform like Pinterest—which many users visit for both shopping information and inspiration—presents a unique opportunity to reach consumers in a whole new way.”

Many users indeed, as the app has more than 8 million subscribers. Volkswagen argues that these “Pinners” have already shown affection for automotive content but this is a first for Pinterest, which has never had an automotive partnership like this one.

“The all-new Volkswagen ID.4 is truly something to behold, but you don’t have to step into the car to experience its magic,” says Andy Holton, Global Head of Creative Strategy at Pinterest. “Working with Volkswagen on this virtual test drive adds a new dimension to shopping on Pinterest, taking the best of IRL shopping and bringing it online.”

The Volkswagen ID.4 is the first all-electric vehicle based on the automaker’s new MEB platform to be sold in the U.S. The only powertrain currently available in the market features a single motor and a 77 kWh battery, which are good for 201 hp and 250 miles of range, per the EPA.

If you want to take a tour of the vehicle on Pinterest, you can do so for free as of today through the Pinterest App.
