Facelifted 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe Is Now Ready For Your Party Of Five

Spy photographers have caught the facelifted Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe on multiple occasions and now the company has officially unveiled the updated model.

Set to arrive in the United States later this year, the 2022 GT 4-Door Coupe features a lightly revised exterior with three new colors including Starling Blue Metallic, Manufaktur Starling Blue Magno and Manufaktur Cashmere White Magno. The model also sports new 20- and 21-inch wheels as well as newly available red brake calipers on the entry-level six-cylinder variant.

Buyers will also find an assortment of new and expanded styling packages including a Silver Chrome Exterior Package which is no longer exclusive to the 63 S. Likewise, the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package I is now available on the GT 53.

They’re joined by a new AMG Night Package II, which features a dark chrome grille and blacked out badging. Customers can also order a styling package that blends the contents of both the Night and Carbon Fiber packs.

More meaningful updates occur in the cabin as drivers will find a new AMG Performance steering wheel which features an integrated sensor to determine if your hands are on it. It also has a new multispoke design as well as AMG Drive Unit buttons with “more brilliant displays.”

Rounding out the interior changes are revised trim and upholstery combinations as well as a newly available rear bench seat. The latter increases the seating capacity to five and makes the GT 4-Door a bit more practical.

On the performance front, there’s a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 362 hp (270 kW / 367 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system with variable torque distribution. This setup enables the model to run from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in approximately 4.8 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited 167 mph (269 km/h).

Customers can also get a GT 53 with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six pumping out 429 hp (320 kW / 435 PS) and 384 lb-ft (520 Nm) of torque. Thanks to the extra oomph, the dash to 60 mph (96 km/h) is cut to 4.4 seconds and the electronically limited top speed increases to 174 mph (280 km/h).

Mercedes didn’t say much about the V8 variants, but confirmed information about them will be released at a later date. That being said, the big news will be the introduction of an all-new plug-in hybrid variant.

Putting the engines aside, the GT 4-Door gains a reconfigured AMG Ride Control+ suspension with new damping. It features two pressure limiting valves that are continuously variable and “allow the damping force to be adjusted even more precisely to different driving conditions and drive programs.” One valve controls the rebound damping, while the other controls the compression damping.

Last but not least, the GT 53 is getting a Manufaktur Exclusive Edition.  It features a Rubellite Red Metallic exterior with the Silver Chrome Exterior Package as well as 21-inch forged wheels with a painted silver and high-gloss finish.  The model also has AMG light display puddle lamps, Neva Grey Exclusive Nappa leather upholstery, natural grain grey ash wood trim and illuminated door sill plates.
