Stellantis teased the Maserati Grecale last month and now we’re getting a better look at the upcoming Porsche Macan competitor.
Caught undergoing testing in Europe, the heavily camouflaged prototype features MC20-inspired headlights and a familiar grille with vertical bars. Further below, there are three large air intakes with honeycomb mesh inserts.
A long flowing hood gives way to an angular windscreen and a gently sloping roof. We can also see curvaceous bodywork, pronounced wheel arches and an upward sweeping beltline. Other notable highlights include minimalist door handles, chunky rear pillars and a sporty greenhouse.

The Grecale’s rear end is its sportiest side as the model has a liftgate-mounted spoiler and an angular rear window. We can also see slender taillights and a four-tailpipe exhaust system.
Spy photographers didn’t get close enough to snap the interior, but we can expect a modern cabin which could come equipped with a digital instrument cluster and a widescreen infotainment system.
Maserati has been tight-lipped about the Grecale, but it will be introduced later this year and slot beneath the Levante. The model is expected to ride on the Giorgio platform and share a number of components with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
If engine options carryover from the Alfa, there could be a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 280 hp (209 kW / 284 PS) and 306 lb-ft (415 Nm) of torque. The Grecale may also be available with the Quadrifoglio’s twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 that develops 505 hp (377 kW / 512 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. Besides the petrol options, Maserati has already confirmed plans for an electric variant which will adopt the Folgore moniker.
