Alfa Romeo is said to be readying a new GTV and it will apparently be in tune with the times as it will make use of electrification.
While details about the vehicle remain under wraps and the Italian automaker has yet to give it the green light for production, Alfa Romeo chief executive Jean-Philippe Imparato has previously expressed his interest in reviving the GTV.
Autocar claims that a handful of different proposals have been made, from a retro-styled two-door coupe to a modern four-door coupe, and that there is a possibility it could be sold in both hybrid and all-electric forms. Of these, an all-electric model would appear to be the most likely and would rival models such as the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4. Not too long ago, the GTV name was supposed to be revived for a two-door version of the Giulia but that project has been killed off.

Now part of the Stellantis group following the merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA Group, Alfa Romeo is planning to overhaul its line-up in the coming years and will use electrified platforms and drivetrains from the group. Among these will be successors to the Giulia and Stelvio and Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares has confirmed the carmaker will move to electrification.
Autocar adds that by 2025, the upcoming Tonale SUV will be the only Alfa Romeo model that uses an FCA-developed platform, with all others to be based around one of three passenger car platforms originally developed by PSA.
