Volkswagen wants to get on the luxury band-wagon (Mercedes-Benz X-Class, we’re talking about you) with a special edition of the Amarok named Dark Label.
It’s based on the range-topping Highline grade and carries a starting price of £33,650 ($46,370) in the United Kingdom.
It’s finished in an exclusive shade of metallic grey, called Carbon Steel, and gets several dark exterior bits, such as the mirror housings, door handles, and rear bumper, ‘Dark Label’ decals, and 18-inch Rawson alloy wheels. Customers can also have it in two other colors: Deep Black Pearl and Matte Indium Grey.
VW paid care to the Amarok Dark Label’s cabin as well, giving it Alcantara seats, black headlining, chrome silk gloss-trimmed air vent bezels, and unique Dark Label floor mats. That’s on top of the standard equipment that includes the 6.33-inch Discover Media infotainment system, power adjustable, heated and folding side mirrors, automatic headlights and wipers, and others.
Motivation comes from the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that churns out 204PS (201hp) and 500Nm (369lb-ft) of torque, channeled to all four corners through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Volkswagen has already begun taking orders for the Amarok Dark Label, which is limited to “around 200 units” with deliveries starting in May.
