As of recent, Teslas have been taking on police duties all around the globe, and now it seems the UK is next, as the company is testing their Model 3 sedan to see if it is adequate for emergency services out in the real world.
According to Auto Express, the car is officially being built by Tesla UK, who plans on offering it to emergency services to gauge interest for use in their fleets. This push towards electrification comes from the UK’s target to ban the sale of new internal combustion cars by 2030, which means this trial is most likely an attempt at future-proofing police departments.

Aside from the livery and light bar, it is unclear as to what else this Tesla has been outfitted with to make it suitable for police use. However, based on the wheels, it appears to be a Performance model, which means it has a 162 mph (261 km/h) top speed, and a 315 mile (507 km) range to make sure it can handle virtually any pursuit thrown at it.
It’s worth noting that other electric vehicles besides Teslas have been getting added to police fleets as well, such as the Volkswagen ID.4 in Greece, the Mercedes EQC in Germany, and the Chevrolet Bolt in the United States. And as for other Teslas, we have seen them in Australia, Canada, Luxembourg, and again the United States.
According to Auto Express, Tesla has yet to confirm if any UK emergency services have expressed interest in the Model 3 police car.
