The Tesla Model 3 was recently revealed to be the most American vehicle you can buy, but according to one parking attendant at a GM facility, it is a ‘foreign’ car.
An image recently surfaced on social media that shows a Model 3 hit with a parking violation at the General Motors Wentville Assembly plant in Missouri. The ticket states the Model 3 is a “foreign [car] in domestic lot”.
At the factory in question, General Motors has dedicated parking areas for GM vehicles, non-GM domestic vehicles, and vehicles from foreign automakers. Evidently, the Tesla was parked in the non-GM domestic vehicles lot, but the parking attendant thought it should have been in the foreign lot.

“Wentzville, like many of our manufacturing sites, has a parking policy and designated parking locations for GM vehicles, non-GM domestic vehicles and foreign nameplates,” a GM spokesperson told The Drive. “Plant security inadvertently thought the Tesla was a foreign car and wrote a ticket accordingly.”
The spokesperson added that the parking violation was simply a warning and not a ticket, meaning the Model 3 owner won’t have to pay for the parking attendant’s mistake.
While Tesla might not be around for decades, like General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler, we suspect that, by now, most people know it is an American brand. Evidently, the parking attendant in question needs to better familiarize themselves with foreign and domestic cars.
