The Lexus LFA was a once-in-a-generation car and while Toyota will soon return to the supercar/hypercar world with its GR Super Sport, we’re not convinced (yet) that it will have as much allure as the LFA.
Lexus put the LFA through one of the longest gestation periods of any supercar in recent memory, first beginning tests of prototypes in 2003 before unveiling the car as a concept in January 2005. In the subsequent years, a handful of different LFA concept cars were unveiled as the automaker decided to switch the car from using an aluminum frame to using a more advanced and expensive carbon fiber tub.

While the world had to wait a long time for the LFA to finally launch, it proved to be well worth it. The LFA is fondly remembered for many things but its centerpiece is no doubt its 4.8-liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine that was developed alongside Yamaha. In the videos below, we are reminded of just how special this engine is.
These videos appear to have been filmed a couple of years ago at a circuit in Japan and show a handful of LFAs being put to the test, perfectly showcasing the V10 in action and providing us with a great opportunity to hear it at full chat.
The clips were filmed at a banked circuit and not only does it feature a handful of standard LFA models but it also includes at least one LFA Nurburgring Edition and an LFA Roadster, one of just two units ever produced.
