Which Generation Honda Civic Type R Would Win In A Drag Race?

It’s the battle of the quirky rear ends as multiple generations of the Civic Type R line up against each other on this conveniently dry runway.

The oldest model to partake in this race is the EP3, or the second-generation Type R. Back in the early to mid 2000’s, this car was critically acclaimed by motoring journalists across the globe and all these years later, we can still understand why.

To its right, the futuristic-looking FN2 third-gen model, followed by the more powerful and lighter Mugen version.

What follows are the turbocharged 4th and 5th-gen models, namely the FK2 and the FK8. These two feature more than 100 extra horses compared to the 2nd and 3rd-gen cars (excluding the Mugen version) – so it was always going to be a matter of how well the latter can keep up, instead of some sort of upset result.

The winner of this drag race covered a 1/4 mile in 13.9 seconds, whereas the runner-up needed 14.2 seconds. Yet, what may not surprise you is that it came down to a photo finish between the EP3 and the regular FN2, you know, since the two have nearly identical horsepower figures.
