The Goodwood Festival of Speed is right around the corner, and joining the list of automakers bringing their newest cars is Alfa Romeo, who will be taking their Giulia GTA and GTAm sports sedans to feature in the iconic Hillclimb. The 1.86-km (1.16 mi) climb will be an opportunity for those in the UK to see Alfa Romeo’s most powerful road car in action when it takes place this weekend.

The Giulia GTA/GTAm feature a host of upgrades over even the Quadrifoglio, with things like the engine, suspension, and aerodynamics all receiving tweaks. Sauber Engineering and well as Alfa Romeo F1 drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi all played a role in the car’s development, having spent time at the Balocco Proving Ground honing its dynamics.

Both the GTA and the GTAm are powered by a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 sending 533 hp (540 PS / 397 kW) to the rear wheels by way of a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing the car to reach 60 mph (97 km/h) from a standstill in 3.6 seconds. On top of that, the GTA/GTAm are 220 lb (100 kg) lighter than the 3,806-lb (1,726 kg) Quadrifoglio thanks to a substantial use of carbon fiber, Lexan windows instead of glass, center-lock wheels, and a rear seat delete.

The car’s suspension features all-new springs, shocks, and bushings, and the overall track width has been increased by 50 mm. On the aerodynamic front, both the GTA and GTAm feature new bumpers, side skirts, fender flares, and heat extractors, while the GTAm also gets a large wing out back.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place from July 8-11, where you can watch all the different cars attempt the Hillclimb.
