Osprey’s Two-Door 1997 Land Rover Defender LS3 V8 Is Just About Perfect For Restomod Lovers

Osprey Custom Cars has unveiled the first of three two-door 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 Soft Top models that it is overhauling.

Found beneath the hood of this example is a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 pumping out 435 hp and 445 lb-ft (603 Nm) of torque that’s coupled to an 6L80E six-speed automatic transmission with an LT-230 transfer case that has a center differential lock. Power is sent through all four wheels and if the new owner is brave enough to take the modified Defender off-roading, it will no doubt be capable of some impressive feats.

In addition to sporting a new engine, the Defender has been equipped with a Griffin aluminum radiator, custom headers and performance exhaust, Dual PermaCool electric cooling fans, stainless steel oil cooler lines, stainless steel brake lines, and stainless steel fuel lines. It also includes Double Cardan front and rear driftshafts, a heavy-duty rear axle, heavy-duty front axle and CV joints, as well as a new drag link and track rod and an adjustable panhard rod.

From a visual standpoint, the Defender stands out from a regular example thanks to a number of new body panels, doors, hood, and soft top. There is also a unique aluminum front grille, side steps, and a set of black wheels wrapped in mud-terrain tires.

Osprey’s upgrades continue into the cabin where there is custom-stitched leather seating, a custom center console, an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging pads, USB charging ports, LED interior lighting and stop-start button.
