Turkey’s first homegrown car is edging towards production with confirmation that the initial body assembly has been completed.
The vehicle comes from Turkey’s Automotive Joint Venture Group (TOGG) and images shared on Twitter show the body in full. TOGG’s production facility is located in the Gemlik district of northwestern Bursa province and is planned for completion in early 2022.

TOGG was launched in mid-2018 and unveiled prototypes of its first two models at a special ceremony in late 2019. Both vehicles feature all-electric powertrains with one being a compact sedan and the other being a C-segment SUV. Production of the SUV will commence next year with the sedan to follow shortly thereafter. TOGG is also readying three more vehicles through 2030.

Daily Sabah reports that 75 per cent of TOGG’s suppliers are located in Turkey, and the remaining 25 per cent from Europe and Asia.
Entry-level versions of the SUV and sedan come with a single electric motor located at the rear that puts out 200 hp. Customers seeking more power will be able to version a variant with a second electric motor at the front axle, making for a total of 400 hp. Flagship models will also come equipped with a larger battery pack (capacity yet to be confirmed) that offers more than 310 miles (500 km) of range and can be recharged to 80 per cent in less than 30 minutes.
