A rare 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT, one of 75 examples built and one of just 30 made in left-hand drive, is expected to sell for as much as $3.8 million when it is auctioned off in August.
The DB4 GT in question was built in June 1961 and is painted in Goodwood Green. It was first owned by Swiss Georges Filipinetti who actually competed in Formula 1 during the 1962 and 1963 seasons. He kept the car until the end of 1961 when it was sold to Dr. Gwer E. Reichen, another collection in Switzerland. It was modified for competition use and throughout 1962, was driven more than 10,000 km (~6,200 miles) on the road and during race events.

Dr. Reichen drove the car frequently over the following three decades and by the early 1990s, the car had almost 100,000 km (~62,000 miles) under its belt. The engine, gearbox, and rear axle were overhauled and in the early 2000s, a Swiss shop returned it to its original road specification. The car was most recently restored by Marksdanes Restorations in 2012.
The current owner has had this DB4 GT since 2016 and imported it into the U.S. Complementing the Goodwood Green paint scheme is an interior clad in green leather and complete with a period Motorola radio. The car will be sold with all supporting documentation including recent service records and a copy of the factory build sheet, the Gooding & Company listing reveals.
Powering the DB4 GT is a 3.7-liter inline-six cylinder engine with three Weber twin-choke carburetors producing 302 hp at 6,000 rpm. Drive is sent to the rear wheels courtesy of a four-speed manual transmission.
