Some road cars have the potential to be tuned to make some incredible power, but could they beat a proper racecar in outright speed? That’s the question Carwow’s latest video, which sees a tuned Lamborghini Huracan and Nissan GT-R try to take down a Red Bull F1 car, attempts to answer.
The Lamborghini is powered by a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V10 making 1,200 hp (1,217 PS / 895 kW) and 915 lb-ft (1,240 Nm) of torque. The car has all-wheel drive and it weighs 3,424 lb (1,553 kg). The Nissan features a twin-turbo V6 whose displacement was increased from 3.8 to 4.1 liters, and along with some other upgrades, it makes 1,300 hp (1,318 PS / 969 kW) and 951 lb-ft (1,290 Nm) of torque. It also has all-wheel drive, but it’s a bit heavier, tipping the scales at 4,057 lb (1,840 kg). Finally, there’s the Red Bull RB7 F1 car. It features a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter V8 making around 750 hp (760 PS / 559 kW), which is sent to the rear wheels only. It weighs only 1,433 lb (650 kg), and is driven by none other than former Red Bull driver David Coulthard.

The first drag race sees the Huracan and the GT-R get ahead at the launch on account of the RB7’s struggle for traction with its RWD. The RB7 eventually got past the GT-R, but not the Huracan, which finished multiple car lengths ahead of the other two. After realizing the Huracan may have jumped the start the first time, they re-ran the race again. Nevertheless, the Huracan still pulled away on this one, but the three cars were much closer. A similar finishing result ensued, but the Lamborghini wasn’t nearly as far ahead as it was in the first race. The third and final drag race showed the same finishing result yet again, but this time, the RB7 was right on the Huracan’s bumper.
In the roll race from 50 mph (80 km/h), the Lamborghini rocketed away, and this time, the GT-R actually finished ahead of the RB7. It seemed that in this case, the light weight of the F1 car was no match for the sheer power of the other two. Unsurprisingly, though, the RB7 car decimated the other two in the braking test, finishing about 7 car lengths ahead of them.
