Toyota is taking us beneath the 2022 Tundra as they’ve released the first pictures of the redesigned suspension.
The automaker is keeping details under wraps, but teased they’re “turning over a new leaf” as the truck features a reimagined suspension that will “set a new bar for on- and off-road performance.”
Toyota is laying it on pretty thick as that’s a not so subtle hint the 2022 Tundra will trade its rear leaf springs for coils. They’re clearly shown in the teasers and they should allow for a smoother and more comfortable ride.

Elsewhere, we can see the Tundra TRD Pro will have an off-road focused suspension with Fox shocks. They’re joined by a beefy front sway bar and a TRD-branded skid plate.
The 2022 Tundra will be introduced later this year and be far more advanced than its predecessor. The company has focused a lot of attention on the interior, which will feature a digital instrument cluster, a widescreen infotainment system and new switchgear. They’ll be joined by a massive moonroof and a rear window that slides down.
While the Tundra is slated to lose its 5.7-liter V8, officials have previously said the model will have an entry-level engine with “substantially” more power and torque than the outgoing unit. Rumors have suggested it could be a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 similar to the one found in the new Land Cruiser, where it produces 409 hp (305 kW / 415 PS) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque.
It should be joined by a hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain as Toyota has said they’ll “bring electrification to its pickup truck lineup in the near future.”
