Kia’s Super Bowl LII ad will see two-time F1 and Indy 500 champion Emerson Fittipaldi get behind the wheel of the 2018 Stinger and race against a yet unknown driver.
Perhaps the other driver’s identity will be revealed at a later date, or perhaps we simply won’t know who’s racing against Fittipaldi until the 60-second ad airs during the third quarter of the Super Bowl, which this year features the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to the Korean automaker, both Fittipaldi as well as the unknown driver are “two eternally youthful legends who have logged seat time in some of the most powerful and exotic cars in the world.”
So we’re expecting either another iconic name from F1, IndyCar or perhaps even NASCAR, or perhaps a celebrity who may have never raced yet is no stranger to driving fast and expensive cars.
This marks Kia’s ninth consecutive year in which they have advertised one of their models during the Super Bowl, and the fact that the Stinger was chosen is by no means a surprise. This is, after all, the automaker’s sportiest production model ever.
