Renault will use the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon to introduce the new Hippie Caviar Hotel.

Described as a “hippie-chic van,” the concept is based on the upcoming Trafic EV and is being billed as a 5-star hotel that you can drive.

Renault didn’t say much about the model, but it features a two-tone Almond Flakes and Anodised Silver Grey exterior complete with a rooftop terrace. The latter can be accessed by a ladder and it boasts a coffee table as well as two deployable backrests that allow people to lounge around on the roof.

The company only provided a glimpse of the interior, but it features a wicker-effect dashboard, exotic wood trim and plant-based foam in the seats. Other highlights include linen and wool upholstery, “Japanese paper-effect ‘washi’ paints,” and a bench seat that can be converted into a bed that measures 77 inches (195 cm) long and 57 inches (145 cm) wide.

Speaking of the latter, Renault said the bench can be positioned inside or outside the vehicle. In particular, there’s a “contemplation” position which sees the bench extend out the tailgate while “draperies provide privacy and protection from the weather.” There’s also a “cosy” position that creates a lounge-like atmosphere.

Interestingly, the van is designed to be accompanied by a “logistics container” that features a bathroom, shower and an electric recharging point. It’s envisioned to get dropped off at a location chosen by campers. Renault also envisions concierge services, which would use a drone to make deliveries.

While the Hippie Caviar Hotel is simply a concept, Renault has “set its sights on developing a range of VIP vans centered on customized services.”
