America’s Got Talent host Simon Cowell is apparently looking for some new talent to front a car show to rival BBC’s Top Gear.

That’s according to reports in the British press, which claim Cowell thinks he’s spotted a gap in the market.

“Simon has always been a huge car lover, and a car show is something he has been interested in doing,” a source in the TV industry told The Sun newspaper.

“Right now there feels like an especially large appetite,” the source continued. “The idea of a new car show is really a no-brainer for him.”

While Cowell and his agents have yet to confirm the claims, the pop producer turned TV star behind shows like American Idol, the X Factor and America’s Got Talent is almost certainly looking for a new gig after confirming that the UK version of The X Factor is on hold.

And given Cowell’s well know lover for four-wheel things (and two; he hit the headlines after hitting the ground following a fall from an electric motorbike that required back surgery in 2019), a car show seems like a logical next step.

Cowell, who appeared in the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car section of the old Clarkson-era Top Gear multiple times, is estimated to be worth $535 million (£385 m). According to The Sun his car collection includes a Rolls Royce Phantom, a Jaguar E-type-based Eagle Speedster, and a Bugatti Veyron.
