Deliveries of the brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport have commenced to owners in the Middle Eastern and Russian markets, so it is natural for many videos to appear on social media. In of them, which was published by the Kurdistan Automotive BLOG on Facebook, we can hear for the first time the sound of the diesel engine.

The Land Cruiser is available in both diesel and petrol guises. It is clear though that the vehicle appearing on the video is fitted with the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 diesel. We are saying that because of the sound which is loud and characteristic of an oil burner. The off-roader is rattling like a diesel truck while on idle with the driver carefully revving.

We are sure that the loud sound will satisfy Land Cruiser owners who prefer to do things in the traditional way as we approach the silent fully electric era. It is true that the sound is fitting with a large and capable SUV like the Land Cruiser, although one would expect a more civilized approach from the new generation. Having said that, we are sure that Toyota’s engineers have done a great job in sound insulation for a quiet experience inside the cabin.

As a reminder, the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 diesel (F33A-FTV) in the new Land Cruiser produces 304 hp (227 kW / 309 PS) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels exclusively through the Direct Shift 10-speed automatic transmission. In the case of the GR Sport trim level, the front and rear differential locks are standard, as is the sophisticated Electronic-Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS). All that combined with the new suspension geometry and the ladder frame make the Series 300 the most capable Land Cruiser yet.
