Fast 10, the penultimate movie in the main Fast & Furious series, will be released on April 7, 2023.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the Justin Lin-directed movie will star Vin Diesel and will start shooting in January 2022. Rumors also suggest that Fast 10 and Fast 11, the final two movies in the franchise, will shoot back-to-back to wrap up the series.

The announcement comes shortly after the latest film in the series, F9, was released. Delayed for more than a year, the film was released in theaters at the beginning of the summer and remains the third-highest grossing movie of 2021, earning more than $680 million worldwide.

F10 and F11 are expected to welcome back a familiar set of series stars, including Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, and others. Whether or not John Cena will return after his first appearance in F9, playing Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) brother Jakob Toretto, remains to be seen. The former wrestler was noncommittal when asked about the role.

Dwayne Johnson, who has starred in several of the series’ movies as well in his own spin-off film, Hobbs & Shaw, is officially out, though. A famous beef between him and co-star and series producer Diesel has led to a conscious uncoupling between the muscle-bound leads.

“I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me,” said Johnson.
