Genesis has been filmed putting the next-generation G90 through its paces at the Nurburgring.
A number of prototypes for the new car have been spied during testing in recent months and like the others, this example is bathed in heavy black and white camouflage that hides many of its key design details.
However, despite the camouflage, we can see that the prototype has the same familiar headlights as other Genesis models, as well as a large grille. The rear-end should also have quad taillights and all in all, the new G90 will look like a slightly larger G80, albeit with slightly smaller lights that juxtapose its bigger size.

As you can imagine, a car like the G90 isn’t particularly well suited to the Nurburgring as it can be seen lumbering through the circuit’s corners and screeching its tires at every possible opportunity. This G90 prototype was also equipped with a roll cage to provide some added safety and perhaps to also strengthen the chassis to create slightly better handling. Of course, the production car won’t have a roll cage.
Powertrain details are unconfirmed but it is understood that Hyundai has killed off the 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated ‘Tau’ V8 of the outgoing G90. As such, the new car will probably receive the same twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 as other Genesis models including the G70, GV70, G80, and GV80.
No launch date has been made public for the new G90 but we will probably see it debut later this year or in the first few months of 2022.
