Just a few weeks ago, Manhart announced the MH5 800 tuning package for the BMW M5 but now the German tuner presented something even more special with the MH5 GTR that builds upon the M5 CS. Surprisingly, the model is not offered as a tuning kit for M5 CS owners, as the company refers to it as a one-off on their website.

Visually, the MH5 GTR is distinguished by the “Moonlight” wrap in silky dark blue, with a set of grey Manhart decals. The tuner eliminated all the gold accents from the factory-spec BMW M5 CS for a darker look, replacing them with either silver (grills) or black (side gills, badging). However, they kept the racing-inspired yellow LEDs at the front, and all of the carbon-fiber aero components.
The forged 21-inch alloy wheels are also painted in black, shod in 275/30ZR21 and 295/30ZR21 tires, with additional spacers in the front axle. At the back, we also find the optional quadruple carbon tailpipes with a diameter of 102 mm each, courtesy of a special stainless steel cat-back exhaust with valve control.
Very Minor Updates In The Interior
Inside, Manhart played it safe as the M5 CS already had a quite intriguing cabin. The only difference we were able to spot is the Manhart badge on the Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel. Other than that, this specific example comes with black leather upholstery, red stitching, and red accents on the carbon-fiber bucket seats.
Power, More Power
The twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 in the stock M5 CS already produces 627 hp (468 kW / 636 PS) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque, but Manhart engineers managed to extract more juice. To be precise, thanks to the addition of the MHtronic powerbox plus the Manhart carbon air-intake, the engine now produces 777 hp (580 kW / 788 PS) and 935 Nm (690 lb-ft) of torque.
While this is quite an improvement, the figures are weirdly less impressive than the MH5 800‘s 804 hp (599 kW / 815 PS) and 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) of torque. This model is more powerful due to the more extensive modifications including a turbo performance kit, intercooler, and exhaust, over the carbon intake, and the ECU remapping. Maybe Manhart didn’t want to mess too much with the M5 CS‘s engine given the collectability of this variant.

The BMW M5 CS is already the most focused variant of the 5-Series but that didn’t stop Manhart from getting their hands in the suspension. The company gave the MH5 GTR a new set of height-adjustable coil springs by KW which are said to improve handling.
Being a one-off, the MH5 GTR will be a rare sight on the streets. Manhart didn’t announce the price of this model but we guess it will cost a respectable premium over the stock M5 CS which starts from $142,000 in the US market. The tuned vehicle will be showcased at the IAA Mobility 2021 alongside the MH4 GTR and another “surprise” model that is going to be announced soon.
