There’s something magical about air-cooled 911s. And if you’re not in love with Porsche’s icon, you will be after watching the awesome video below.
The Hoonigans got to drive a 964-gen 911 across a frozen lake. The vehicle, with was built by Kelly-Moss Road and Race, is an absolute beast of a machine. Air-cooled 911s may be special, but this really turns the volume up to 11.
The 964 has received a whole bunch of changes to be able to go off-roading, but the most prominent modification is the engine. The standard 964 came with a 3.6-liter flat six that made 247 hp and 228 lb-ft of torque. That engine has been replaced by a supercharged 3.8-liter unit that cranks out around 430 hp.
Besides the upgraded engine, the rally-spec 911 has flared fenders, Hella LED lamps, all-terrain tires, mud flaps, Brembo and Stoptech brakes, and more. The result is a 911 that can traverse demanding terrain at ease and put a great smile on the face of its driver.
The video that follows is a lengthy one, but the good stuff starts at the 6:22 mark. You’ll definitely want to put a good pair of headphones on and turn the volume up, as few cars in the world sound as good as this one.
