Electrify America says it’s improving the usability of its mobile app by making it work with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The added functionality will allow users to locate a charger, stop and start charging remotely and check their charging plan through their vehicle’s infotainment screen.

Electrify America, which operates more than 650 charging stations nationwide at which it maintains more than 2,700 individual chargers, says it recently improved its mobile app to increase functionality. As a result, the app now functions as well on your phone as it does on your infotainment screen.

“Electrify America is constantly striving to meet customers where they are and make the transition to EV driving as seamless as possible,” said Brenna Corrigan, manager of brand & digital marketing at Electrify America. “With this expanded functionality, we are integrating essential charging station navigation information right into customers’ vehicles, helping them feel confident on the road.”

While using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, EV owners will be able to find charging locations while on the go. The functionality will mean that you can navigate to the nearest or most convenient charging station easily and entirely through your vehicle’s infotainment screen.

Owners will also be able to stop a charge with the Car Play or with the app, but would need to start a charge altogether if they haven’t finished charging their vehicle. The app will also owners to double-check what their charging plan is from the comfort of their car.

Electrify America was set up by Volkswagen following the Dieselgate scandal. The company recently announced that it would be doubling its charging infrastructure in the U.S. and Canada by 2025.
