Any lingering doubts that the Cayman was just a “junior Porsche” were dispelled when the automaker rolled out the Cayman GT4. And it’ll soon do it again with what promises to be an even better machine. But if you can’t wait for the new one to come out, there’s a rather tantalizing prospect coming up for auction.

What we have here is a 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport, the version that took Zuffenhausen’s hardcore little sportscar even further and catered it to the racetrack.

Where the GT4 already adopted the engine from the 911 Carrera S and the brakes from the 911 GT3, the Clubsport version took on the suspension from the 911 GT3 Cup and added extra features like adjustable antilock brakes, a full roll cage, six-point racing harnesses… the works. And it left out everything else to save weight.

This example was purchased by the consigner in April 2016 but was never really driven – much less raced – showing less than 25 delivery miles on the odometer. It was also optioned with air-conditioning, air jack system, the bucket seat from the 911 GT3 Cup racer, and a full spare-parts package. Everything you’d need, in short, to get the most out of your track day… or even take it racing.

Like what you see? It’s set to cross the block at RM Sotheby’s auction at Amelia Island in Florida this March, where it’s expected to sell for around $200-250k. That’d be about enough to buy a new 911 GT3 and a Cayman GTS to spare, but we bet this beast would be even more fun around the track. (Photos by Nathan Deremer, courtesy of RM Sotheby’s.)
