A special BMW M240i xDrive art car has just been unveiled to commemorate the new 2-Series Coupe being built in Mexico.

This special 2-Series was recently presented by the BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosi and the paint was conceived by Luis Esquivel and David Fernandes. It combines the colors of the German and Mexican flags and required the use of 6.1 liters of paint and 2.5 liters of clear coat.

The car was painted completely by hand at BMW’s own paint booth that strictly controls the humidity, temperature and air purity. It took no less than three weeks to apply all of the colors, as well as two additional weeks for the clear coat and two more weeks for polishing and perfecting the finish.

BMW says that the front of the car combines the colors of the German and Mexican flags to reflect the power of both countries in terms of engineering and designer. There are also a couple of human silhouettes to symbolize the employees working at the BMW San Luis Potosi to bring each and every new 2-Series to life.

The unveiling of this unique art car comes just a week after BMW unveiled its host of M Performance parts for the 2022 2-Series. Among the key parts available for the car are carbon fiber across the front splitter, side skirts, rear lip spoiler, and rear diffuser. Other M Performance parts include carbon fiber kidney grille surrounds, carbon wing mirror caps, unique stickers, different wheel options, and bright red brake calipers.
