BMW has introduced yet another special edition model for the Japanese market, the X7 Nishijin Edition.

Adorning the exterior of the X7 Nishijin Edition is a color dubbed Ametrine from the BMW Individual palette. It is inspired by precious stones and has been created by mixing together BMW’s existing shades of Amethyst and Citrine. The result is a unique shade of purple that immediately makes the Nishijin Edition stand out from any other X7 model.

The interior is just as unique. The model gets its name from Nishijin-ori, a traditional textile that is produced in the Nishijin district of Kamigyō-ku in Kyoto. With that in mind, the cabin is bathed in this special textile, complete with an intricate pattern. The material adorns the center console, dashboard, and headliner of the X7 and encompasses layered gold-colored accents. The textile is also found on the key and is crafted by hand.

BMW unveiled the unique X7 at a special presentation in Aoyama, Tokyo on September 21. Just three examples will be manufactured, each with a starting price of 16.8 million yen ($153,000).

The X7 Nishijin Edition is based around the 40d xDrive variant. As such, it is powered by a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel six-cylinder engine producing 335 hp at 4,400 rpm and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque at 1,750 rpm.
