Following the presentation of the all-new, three-row 2021 Grand Cherokee L back in January this year, Jeep is ready to debut the shorter wheelbase two-row model that introduces the brand’s second 4xe plug-in hybrid after the Wrangler 4xe.
Somewhat confusingly, the five-seater SUV will be marketed as a 2022MY, as Jeep offered the previous generation Grand Cherokee as a 2021MY parallel to the new 2021MY Grand Cherokee L.
The Stellantis group brand has already given us a photo taster of the new 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe, and unsurprisingly, it has the same design as the longer wheelbase, 7-seater Grand Cherokee L.

Powertrain options will kick off with a standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 pushing out 290 hp and 257 lb-ft of torque while higher-end trims will get the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 rated for 357 hp and 390 lb-ft. Jeep has yet to detail the PHEV, but it may or may not differ from the Wrangler 4xe’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s paired with two electric motors and a lithium ion battery serving up a combined 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque along with a maximum EV driving range of 22 miles.
You can choose any transmission you want as long as it’s an eight-speed automatic, with base models sending power to the rear wheels only, but as expected, Jeep will offer a few all-wheel drive systems too.
You can watch the livestream that starts at 9am EST below and stay tuned for all the details shortly after.
