Porsche is famous for having created a number of art cars over the years. Its latest is a highly modified 968 that was designed in partnership with Arthur Kar, who runs the Parisian streetwear label L’Art De L’Automobile.
The resulting car, named “968 L’ART,” is an ode to the retro ’90s look that is currently sweeping the fashion world. Its roof was cut off and the rear modified to turn the car into a speedster, the model is painted in a shade of green developed specifically by Arthur Kar and his team for this project.
Inside, meanwhile, there are Recaro bucket seats made of ECCO Leather EL3. A Bose audio system, meanwhile, ensures that you can listen to your music no matter how quickly you’re driving, and TAG Heuer supplied a stopwatch that has been installed in the dash. Kar’s name graces the taillights at the back, a nod to the sunglasses his brand produces.

“The love of Porsche unites many people around the globe and for us, too, it is still a special feeling when we can help someone like Arthur Kar make an extraordinary dream come true,” said Robert Ader, VP of Marketing at Porsche. “I hope that the result of our collaboration will inspire many fans around the world.”
Kar’s name wasn’t the only thing pushing him to create this fully functioning car. A longtime fan of Porsche, Kar spent his childhood in his father’s automotive workshop. At 16, he started working in a French Porsche center as a mechatronics technician, before opening his own business, selling restored vehicles to clients around the world, which allowed him to buy his very own Carrera GT.
In 2017, he decided to take on a new industry and founded L’Art De L’Automobile, his fashion label. To celebrate this new collaboration, the brand has created a small fashion line that will be sold during the Paris Fashion Week at the Marais district, in high-end fashion stores, and online.
A second line of six pieces has been designed for Porsche’s own stores and will be available in select Porsche Centers, as well as online, starting in mid-October.
