Back in 2013, Renault decided they’d make an F1-inspired promotional version of their Twizy electric city car. Called the Twizy F1, it featured race slicks, aggressive aero, and a legitimate KERS system that boosted its power output six-fold. But while that car isn’t, and likely won’t ever be, for sale, this nearly-identical creation built by Oakley Design in just five examples is.
The 2012 Renault Twizy, which is currently up for auction on Collecting Cars, has just 17,235 miles (27,737 km) on its odometer. The car is painted in green with a gold flake, and features a chequered flag design Lexan roof, waterproof vinyl seats, and an Alcantara-trimmed quick-release steering wheel.

It also features all the aero that was found on the Twizy F1, which includes the massive carbon fiber front and rear wings, as well as the side and rear diffusers. Adding to its F1 theme are the side mirrors, which were apparently nabbed directly from a 2015 Formula 1 car, the magnesium center-lock wheels, which were sourced from an F2 car, and the rain light, which was fitted to the diffuser to mimic the ones found on F1 and F2 racers. In addition to all that, the chassis was reinforced and the suspension lowered, while the rear wing received custom metalwork to keep it supported.

Not everything on this car is identical to Renault’s Twizy F1 one-off, though. Some of its differences are that it eschews the full slicks in favor of treaded tires (although they’re equally as meaty), and it keeps its doors in contrast to the Twizy F1’s full open cockpit. There’s also another significant difference between the two: while the real Twizy F1 had a KERS system that could momentarily boost power to 97 hp (98 PS / 72 kW), this has the stock electric motor, which puts out just 17 hp (17 PS / 13 kW).

With all that being said, this car’s top 60 mph (97 km/h) top speed is not too far off the Twizy F1’s 68 mph (109 km/h), and the two are equally eye catching, so this creation could actually be worth checking out if you’re in the market for a compact electric city car that’s a real head-turner.
