The facelifted CX-5 was launched two weeks ago and Mazda has just announced pricing and availability for the UK market, where it accounts for a quarter of its sales. The compact SUV will arrive in the UK in early 2022 with four engines and five trim levels, priced from £27,845 ($37,750) all the way up to £39,085 ($52,988).
Design-wise, the updated CX-5 can be distinguished from the smarter LED headlights, the new grille, and the cleaner design for the front bumper, plus the slimmer taillights and the new range of wheels. Additionally, the Newground, Sport Black, and GT Sport trim levels are visually differentiated communicating their distinct personality. Mazda predicts that the mid-range Sport trim level will be the biggest seller of the range in the UK.

Inside there is a wireless Qi phone charging tray in the center console and the standard i-Activesense safety suite including Cruise & Traffic Support (CTS). Entry-level variants get black cloth upholstery, which is replaced by black leather and brown Nappa leather in the top of the range models. Mazda has also updated the bodyshell, chassis, suspension, and seats, while ride comfort has been enhanced and road noise has been reduced.
In terms of powertrains, the CX-5 is offered in the UK with two diesel and two petrol options. The base model is fitted with the 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G petrol producing 163 hp (121 kW / 165 PS), while the most powerful variant gets the 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G petrol producing 191 hp (142 kW / 193 PS). There is also the 2.2-litre Skyactiv-D diesel available in 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) guises.

Unlike the US-spec CX-5 which will have the i-Activ AWD system as standard, in the UK the SUV is available in both FWD and AWD versions. The front-wheel drive models are available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, while the all-wheel drive comes standard with the automatic plus an extra Off-Road Mode in the Mazda Intelligent Drive select (Mi-Drive).
The base model is the CX-5 2.0 Skyactiv-G 2WD SE-L with 163 hp starting from £27,845 ($37,750). The entry point to the all-wheel-drive variants is the £36,685 ($49,749) CX-5 2.2 Skyactiv-D AWD Sport with 181 hp.
If you want the most powerful version you can only get the CX-5 2.5 Skyactive-G AWD GT Sport Auto with 191 hp that starts at £37,485 ($50,820). Mind you, this is not the most expensive of the range; that would be the CX-5 2.2 Skyactiv-D AWD GT Sport Auto flagship diesel with 181 hp that’s priced at £39,085 ($52,988).
