Lexus revealed a new IS 500 ad today called “Parking Spot”, featuring Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” and more specifically Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo character.
The two-minute spot was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, a duo known for movies like Captain America (The Winter Soldier, Civil War) and Avengers (Infinity War, Endgame). It depicts superhero Kingo trying to find an appropriate parking spot for his Lexus in order to help out in an epic battle downtown.
The star of the clip is the 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance that debuted earlier this year, fitted with a 5,0-liter V8 that produces 472 hp (479 PS / 352 kW) and 395 lb-ft (536 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed auto transmission. The sports sedan can be distinguished by a bulged hood, quad tailpipes, Enkei wheels, spoiler lip, and black chrome trim

Lexus states that there are a few Marvel Cinematic Universe Easter eggs appearing in the ad. Oscar-winning company Framestore was responsible for the visual effects while actor Gaius Charles debuts as the new voice of the brand. Besides the 120 second spot appearing on YouTube, a shorter 30-second version will air on cable TV, cable sports, college football, NHL, and soccer. As part of Lexus’ collaboration with Marvel, both the LS 500 and the NX will make appearances in the film.
If you are not familiar with Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” movie franchise, it is about a new team of superheroes. While they have been secretly living on Earth for thousands of years, the superheroes come out of the shadows to fight the Deviants following the events in the “Avengers: Endgame” movie.
The new film scheduled to premiere in US theaters on November 5, 2021, is directed by Chloé Zhao – the first woman of color to win the Academy Award for best director. Besides Kumail Nanjiani, the film stars Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, and Kit Harrington.
