If we will indeed reach a point where AI will bring out a semblance of human emotion in various machines, is it possible that robots will start seeking attention like, say, our pets do?

Rather unlikely, at least in any near-future scenario. Besides, this commercial from BMW is meant to be funny. Still, the automaker’s point is easy to understand – it’s all about how advanced they feel their models are compared to everything else.

In this case, the “everything else” part is connected to various smart home appliances, which go on to harm themselves once they realize the home owner isn’t paying attention to them anymore.

The reason for that is the all-new BMW 5-Series parked outside, equipped with the Bavarian automaker’s Personal CoPilot technology, capable to maneuvering you through traffic jams, keep you at a safe distance from other vehicles and even react to save your life in hazardous situations.

In the end, a more likely scenario of how things will play out in the future will be one of greater unity between all the automated systems found throughout our homes and vehicles, working together with the same goal in mind.
