You know how people love to ask actors what their Top 5 or Top 10 favorite movies roles were? On a familiar note, it would be equally nice to get similar feedback from automakers regarding what their favorite models are.

Thanks to Mercedes putting together this short video, we now know how the Stuttgart-based automaker feels about its own models. Also, with so many cars to choose from, we guess that a Top 5 must have been pretty hard to come up with.

Still, coming in at number 5, it’s the 540 K, built between 1935 and 1940 and introduced at the 1936 Paris Motor Show. What made the 540 K different from the 500 K was the significantly lighter chassis and the higher displacement straight-eight engine that reached 5.4-liters.

Number four on the list is the Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet. This combines a little bit of everything, from off-roading prowess, to total luxury as well as exclusivity. Its €630,000 price tag pretty much says it all.

The iconic Mercedes-Benz 600 comes in at number 3, even though we would have thought it worthy of the first place, since it pretty much embodied luxury for nearly two decades until its production run came to a halt in 1981. Technically speaking, a true successor for it didn’t show up until the Maybach 57 and 62 models were introduced in 2002 – with much less success, which ended in them being cancelled in 2010.

Runner up on this list is the brand new Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet. It has everything, from a massive 6.0-liter twin turbo V12 to plush new seats, Maybach badges, quad tailpipes, new wheels, new bumper and, best of all, a limited production run of just 300 units, 75 of which are destined for the U.S.

As for the one true winner, it’s the 300 SLR, which Mercedes apparently considers their ultimate achievement and a truly priceless car. Since only two street-legal units were ever built, boasting a maximum speed approaching 290 km/h (180 mph) that made it the fastest car in the world at that time, we’re guessing its place, both in Merc’s ranking and in history, is fully justified.
