Genesis will soon launch the new-generation G90, and our spy photographers caught a camouflaged prototype at the Nürburgring with a partly covered interior, unveiling its premium materials and tech-filled dashboard for the first time.
The Korean S-Class competitor has been spied on several occasions in the past wearing thick or thin camouflage. However, this time the driver was going slow as he was approaching a crossing, allowing our spy photographer to have a quick look inside the cabin.

As you would expect from a vehicle in this segment, the fit and finish look great, with soft-touch materials and carbon-like inserts on the dashboard. The large digital instrument cluster is combined with a wide infotainment touchscreen, while a smaller screen on the center console is dedicated to the – physical – climate controls.

Other features include the two-spoke steering wheel with integrated buttons and the aluminum-style trim which looks like it serves a purpose since it is marked with + and – buttons, maybe shortcuts to adjust the lightness of the instrument cluster. We don’t have photos of the rest of the cabin however the long wheelbase hints at plenty of legroom for the rear passengers who will also enjoy their own screens.
On the exterior, the G90 is featuring the large crest grille, and the quad-lamp headlights found in all Genesis models. In this case, however, they are more elongated, reaching all the way from the grille to the wheelarches. The rest of the car looks quite sleek, with proper executive saloon proportions.
Since Genesis has phased out the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter ‘Tau’ V8, the new flagship is expected to get the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that is already used in the smaller G70 and G80 sedans, as well as in the GV70 and GV80 SUVs. A fully electric version is also under development to rival the BMW i7 and the Mercedes-Benz EQS.
If our eyes are not deceiving us, the large sedan will also be equipped with a four-wheel-steering system. As the ultimate flagship of the Hyundai-Kia group, the G90 could introduce the latest autonomous driving tech that will eventually roll down to the rest of the Genesis range.
The current Genesis G90 was introduced in 2016 and got a facelift in 2019 bringing it up to date with the company’s new design identity. However, 2022 is the right time for a new generation since the competition in the luxury sedan market is quite fierce and Genesis has gone a long way since its conception as a brand.
The Genesis G90 doesn’t have a release date but it is rumored for a late 2021 or early 2022 debut in Korea.
