BMW is hard at work developing a new M2 and while the car’s exterior design is bound to cause some controversy, it will no doubt be a thrilling car to drive. Before it arrives, however, BMW tuning expert Manhart has previewed the upcoming 2-Series Coupe it is working on that could make you forget about the M2.

Manhart’s new project is based around the current M240i Coupe which is the current flagship model in the 2-Series family. The tuner will make both visual and mechanical modifications to the car and it certainly has all of the right ingredients to be an exceptional performer.

The tuner will start with the car’s 3.0-liter TwinPower turbocharged six-cylinder engine that delivers 382 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque in North American specification. Manhart will equip the M240i with its MHtronik Powerbox, lifting grunt up to 450 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. It’s not just the car’s peak power and torque that will be improved as power across the rest of the rev range will also swell.

Elsewhere, Manhart is working on a stainless steel exhaust system for the car with adjustable valves, a petrol-particulate filter delete, and downpipes with catalytic converters. Downpipes with a 200 cell catalytic converter will also be offered.

Various visual alterations are also on the cards. These include the fitment of 20-inch Concave One wheels finished with black spokes and a gold pinstripe around the rim. Lowering springs are also being developed, as are a carbon fiber front splitter and a carbon fiber rear diffuser. Striking gold accents will also be offered.
