Pictures of the new Ford Mondeo have been leaked through the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information, fully revealing the design of the mid-size sedan. The new-generation Mondeo is destined for the Chinese market since Ford will soon retire the popular nameplate from Europe after 30 years.

The sedan has been caught testing by our spy photographers but this is the first time we see it free of any camouflage. The leak shows both the sport ST-Line and the regular variants, featuring different front and rear bumpers.

The front end looks almost identical to the Chinese market Evos crossover featuring LED headlights and a large grille. The surface treatment on the profile is also quite similar, with sculpted fenders and a bi-tone treatment in some trims. The Mondeo is seemingly sitting higher compared to its predecessor, while retaining the three-box proportions.

At the back, the horizontally-arranged taillights are connected through a LED strip, while the bumper has a decorative diffuser and hidden exhaust pipes. The Ecoboost 245 badge on the tailgate hints at a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is probably mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox just like in the Evos.

The leak suggests a length of 4,935 mm (194.2 inches) which is slightly more than the 4,920 mm (193.7 inches) of the Evos and from the 4,869 mm (191.7 in) of the outgoing fourth-generation Mondeo sedan.

We don’t have pictures of the interior yet, but it will most likely inherit the ultra-wide 43-inch screen setup introduced by the Evos, incorporating a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 27-inch infotainment touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC+ 2.0. We also expect a roomy five-seater cabin with more room for cargo compared to its predecessor’s 541 lt (19.1 cubic feet) boot.

A lightly camouflaged prototype of the new-generation sedan has been spied testing near Detroit, US, but with Ford having discontinued the Fusion for the 2020 model year and ditching most of its car lineup to focus on crossovers and SUVs, the new Mondeo should be a China-only affair.
