It should go without saying that doing 70 mph in a parking lot is a no-no. The video below is an example of what happens when things go wrong.

Posted to Twitter, the video shows a Dodge Challenger accelerating past a group of people assembled in a parking lot and seemingly hitting a drainage dip.

It’s hard to follow quite what happens next, but it seems like there may have been more than one impact. Regardless, it ends with a wheel flying off the car. Not only does the wheel come clean off, but the entire hub assembly with it. Fortunately, the wheel, brake, and hub are recovered in a bush.

While this no doubt feels pretty bad for the driver, especially with the amount that the people around him are laughing, it’s probably still more sympathy than he deserves. Driving like this in such a place is, frankly, stupid, and if something happens, in this case losing a wheel at a high rate of speed, you become more of a passenger than a driver. Beyond the risk of hitting people with the car, the wheel could have easily injured a bystander, too.

Although it’s unclear what model of Challenger was featured in the video, from the sounds of it, the car was powered by a V8. Capable of producing up to 797 hp (808 PS/594 kW) in Hellcat Redeye trim, even lower trims, like the 392 Hemi, put out 485 hp (492 PS/362 kW), which is more than enough to get you in trouble.

It just goes to show that Mustangs aren’t the only cars that get in trouble while hot dogging; one can be a boneheads behind the wheel of any vehicle.
