Few cars are more iconic than the DeLorean DMC-12 and while many owners like to transform their vehicles into Back to the Future lookalikes, the owner of this example decided to make something completely unique.
The car was presented to the world at last week’s SEMA Show and immediately stands out thanks to a custom, one-off wide bodykit with flared front and rear arches. In fact, the car’s new exterior was designed by concept artist Khyzyl Saleem, who you’ve probably heard of before. The result is a DeLorean truly unlike any other.

During a video with 1320video, the owner of the car reveals that he purchased a salvaged DMC-12C that just so happened to be the cheapest available in the U.S. to use for the project. It took roughly six months to craft the new exterior panels and among the most intriguing aspects of the new design are the 3D-printed LED headlights and distinctive taillights.
Then we come to the powertrain. Gone is the notoriously unreliable 2.85-liter V6 of the original and in its place sits a fully-built 5.3-liter LSX V8 with a billet intake manifold and a pair of turbochargers that have been placed below the engine and sit just a few inches off the ground. It’s not the most efficient setup but the owner says he built the DeLorean to look cool, not as a high-performance car. The V8 is paired to a transmission from a 996-generation Porsche 911 and also features a bespoke exhaust system.
