The 2022 BMW iX will touch down on U.S. shores in the first quarter of next year and before that happens, the local configurator for the electric SUV has gone live.
Like most new BMW models, the design of the iX has caused quite a lot of debate and according to many, it is sinfully ugly. The configurator does allow you to play around with both the exterior and interior of the iX. Sadly, it doesn’t include an option to replace the gargantuan kidney grilles.

In creating our perfect iX, we opted for the Sport design package that adds Shadowline exterior trim, dark clear taillights, and 21-inch Aero Bi-color wheels. However, you can have these wheels replaced with larger 22-inch shoes and that’s what we opted to do. The paint is dubbed Aventurin Red Metallic which is a color from the BMW Individual palette and gives the SUV a premium look.
The configurator also allows you to choose between a handful of different interior finishes. To match the exterior, we went with the Castanea Chestnut perforated leather which includes titanium bronze trim.
Various options packages are also available, including the $2,300 Convenience package, the $4,000 Premium package, the $1,600 Dynamic Handling Package, and the $1,150 Luxury Package. If you opt for the Premium package, you can also shell out an extra $3,400 for a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System with 30 speakers, 2 under-floor subwoofers, and 4 bass shakers in the front seats.
Our BMW iX has a sticker price of $101,325 but prices for the iX do start at a more affordable $83,200 plus a $995 destination charge.
