Lotus has released a pair of new teaser videos for the upcoming Type 132 Electric SUV and one of the teasers suggests that the vehicle will feature a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) unit.

The video titled ‘See’ gives us a glimpse of the LiDAR as it can be seen rising out of the roof, just in front of the windshield. While Lotus has yet to release technical specifications about the Type 132, it’s obvious that the LiDAR will form part of a comprehensive sensor suite that will enable semi-autonomous driving.

The second teaser video is dubbed ‘Stretch’ and shows a piece of active aerodynamics. Unless our eyes are deceiving us, it seems the active aero will consist of a rear wing that can stretch outwards and upwards.

These two teasers come a week after the Type 132 was first teased with an active front grille with adjustable shutters that can be opened or closed to either cool the powertrain or improve aerodynamics.

Further details about the Type 132 aren’t known yet, but it will share the same architecture as a number of other forthcoming electric vehicles from the British automaker. These will include an E-segment four-door coupe currently known as the Type 133, a D-segment SUV dubbed the Type 134, and the Type 135 electric sports car set to launch in 2026.

All of these vehicles will feature 800-volt technology and have battery packs that range from 92-120 kWh. The Lotus Type 132 SUV will be unveiled next year.
